The desk
What the show caller is looking at
The sheet in front of you is the cue list: number, start, duration, end, what it is, the note, and who owns it. Stage crews call it a run of show. Broadcast and studio crews call it a rundown. It is the same page. You set a show time, the wall-clock moment the show is planned to begin. Start runs the call from there. Pause holds it. Resume continues. The button label is the action, so a deputy can take the desk without a legend.
Rehearsal is its own switch. Lock edit stops a stray click from rewriting a cell while you are calling. A show that covers two days has a day control, so Wednesday’s cues are not mixed into Thursday’s.
If you walk in after the planned start, the show can tell you it is already under way and offer to jump to now, or to begin at cue 1. That is the difference between a file and a caller.
