Terms of Use

These terms are a contract between you and the operator of ShowDocLive at showdoclive.com. They cover the website, accounts, ShowDocs, crew share links, contributor invites, credits, and related services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. If you use the Service for a company or production, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation.

Privacy is described in the Privacy Policy. Cookies are described in the Cookie Policy.

1. The Service

ShowDocLive hosts live ShowDocs for technical crew. You write sections; people you share with can open a link on a phone, tablet, or laptop. Features depend on your plan. Free is one ShowDoc without AI. Pro adds ShowDocs, dictation, Format & Tidy, and monthly AI credits, as described on Pricing. We may change features, provided we do not take away something you already paid for during that billing period without a reasonable alternative or refund of unused prepaid time where the law requires it.

2. Accounts

3. Plans, credits, and billing

4. Your content

You keep ownership of ShowDoc content you upload. You grant us a limited licence to host, display, back up, and process it solely to provide the Service (including sending text or audio to xAI when you use AI features, returning content to an assistant you connect, and showing content to people with your share or contributor links).

You confirm you have the rights to that content and that sharing it will not break the law or someone else’s rights. You are responsible for what crew and contributors do with material you give them.

5. Share links and contributors

A long share URL is a secret. A short link plus password is also a secret. Anyone with that access can read the live ShowDoc. Regenerating a link invalidates the old one. Contributor links let invited people edit under the rules you set; their AI use can spend the credit allowance you reserved. You decide who is trusted. We are not responsible for a leaked link or for edits a contributor makes.

6. Acceptable use

You must not:

We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, and we may remove content that appears unlawful or that puts the Service or other people at risk.

7. AI features

Dictation and Format & Tidy use third-party AI (xAI). Output can be wrong, incomplete, or oddly phrased. You must check anything that matters to the show before crew rely on it. We do not warrant that transcripts or tidied text are accurate. Audio and text you submit may be processed by xAI under their terms and privacy notice.

Grok Bot and other connected assistants

8. Third-party services

Payments run on Stripe. Email is sent through our mail provider. Optional Grok Bot access uses xAI’s Grok Bot, connected through our connector at mcp.showdoclive.com; your use of Grok Bot itself is governed by xAI’s terms. Grok and Grok Bot are trademarks of xAI; ShowDocLive is not made or endorsed by xAI. Those services have their own terms. We are not responsible for an outage or change on their side, except that if Pro is unusable for a prolonged period because of something in our control we will work with you in good faith on a reasonable remedy.

9. Our intellectual property

The ShowDocLive name, design, software, and documentation are ours (or our licensors’). You may not copy the product, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or use our marks without permission.

10. Availability

We aim to keep the Service available for live shows, but we do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free software, or that a share link will load on every device and network. Keep a fallback for anything safety-critical. Maintenance, faults, or events outside our control can take the Service down.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. ShowDocLive is a documentation tool. It is not professional advice, a comms system of record, or a substitute for calling the show.

12. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that UK law does not allow to be limited.

Subject to that:

If you are a consumer and the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies, your statutory rights are not affected. If you use the Service in the course of business, you agree this allocation of risk is reflected in the price.

13. Indemnity

If you use the Service in the course of business, you will indemnify us against claims, damages, and reasonable legal costs arising from your content, your share links, your contributors, or your breach of these terms, except to the extent we caused the loss by our own negligence or wilful misconduct.

14. Suspension and termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account if you breach these terms, if required by law, or if we reasonably believe the account is a security or legal risk. Sections that should survive (including 4, 7, 9, 11, 12, 13, and 16) survive termination.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top will change. Continued use after an update is acceptance of the new terms, except where the law requires a different process for a material change to a paid contract — in that case we will give reasonable notice.

16. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your home courts.
